About Us
Who are we?
The Broom Street Children Project (The Broom) is a charity which helps poor children who have been forced to make a living and/or sleep rough on the streets of poorer countries, achieve education, training and some security and dignity. Most of our work so far has concentrated on helping the street children in the streets of Accra, Ghana, but we hope to be able to expand to help street children in other African countries.

How do we help?
We help to make life a little less hard through our outreach project by providing soap, mosquito nets and bedding etc for those on the streets. To date we have already helped over 500 people in the short time we have been operating and within another 5 years plan to help another 1000 with your support.

We run a hostel that takes in the most vulnerable and provides a home and safe environment. For some of the children we meet, we are the only ‘family’ they have. Our hostel provides not only food and warmth but vocational training so that the children and young people can have an opportunity to pull themselves out of poverty and achieve goals they never once believed would ever come true. The Broom Street Children Project Hostel

The Broom Street Children Project - Listening to the Head Teacher For the young children, we aim to place them in primary or secondary education by funding their places, their school uniform and text books. Without education, they are condemned to a life grinding poverty and exploitation through the cheap menial labour that they can provide.

It is our aim to do so much more, to help more children leave their lives on the dangerous streets and face a brighter future. We can only continue if people will help us raise the funds to do so. We hope that you will become a supporter and bring hope to these desperate children.
