Shadrach
Shadrach was a 17 year old young man when The Broom met him. He had dropped out of school at year 9 because his mother could not afford his secondary school fees (including boarding & tuition) of about £34.00 a year.
Shadrach wanted to continue his education and so The Broom paid for his school fees and bought him the textbooks that he needed.
Shadrach has just taken his exams equivalent to GCSEs and is now waiting for the results.
Without the help of The Broom all these young men will still be without any hope of a future, but now they have achieved or are on their way to achieving their life ambition. They can now feel confident and have self-esteem. Those who have siblings can help them and they all can now make a positive contribution to their communities/society – and all for a small amount of money.
The street children as so intelligent and bright with so much potential, ability and ambition. Given the opportunity and support they can achieve a lot for themselves. All they need is a helping hand.
